Helping Students Feel Welcome and Adjust Easily to Their New School
As a first-generation American, I know firsthand how difficult it can be to step into a new environment and feel like you don’t belong. No student should feel like they have to change who they are to fit in. Schools should be a place of inclusion, where every child—regardless of their background—feels welcomed, valued, and supported. That means creating intentional programs that help new students adjust, fostering peer support systems, and ensuring teachers have the resources to cultivate a culture of belonging from day one.

Making Sure Mental Health and Well-Being Are a Priority in the Classroom
A child’s ability to learn is directly connected to their mental and emotional well-being. Too often, students feel powerless in a system that prioritizes test scores over their personal struggles. We must ensure that every student has access to the mental health resources they need—whether that’s through school counselors, wellness initiatives, or simply making sure classrooms are safe spaces where students feel heard and supported. Teachers should also be given the tools to recognize when students are struggling and the flexibility to address those needs with care and compassion.

Keeping Schools Safe for All Students and Ensuring Everyone Has the Freedom to Learn
True safety goes beyond physical security—it means creating an environment where every student can learn without fear of bullying, discrimination, or censorship. Every child deserves to be in a school where they feel physically and emotionally safe, where they are free to express who they are, and where their education is not dictated by politics. As policies attempt to restrict what can be taught in classrooms, we must stand firm in protecting the right of every student to access a well-rounded education that reflects the diversity of the world around them.

Supporting Parents and Families as Important Partners in Education
A child’s education does not happen in isolation—it is a partnership between schools, families, and the community. Parents should feel welcomed, informed, and empowered to take an active role in their child’s learning journey. That means increasing transparency in decision-making, providing clear communication from schools to families, and ensuring parents have a voice in shaping policies that impact their children. We can build a school system that works for everyone by strengthening this partnership.

Making Sure Money Is Used Wisely and Shared Openly with Everyone Involved
A strong school district is built on trust, and that trust starts with transparency. Taxpayers, parents, and educators deserve to know how school funds are being allocated and whether they are being used effectively to support students. Every dollar should be spent with intention—whether it’s for classroom resources, teacher salaries, or mental health support services. I am committed to making financial decisions that prioritize students first while ensuring accountability and clear communication with the community.
